Travel Tuesdays: Austin, Texas

A couple summers ago I took a spontaneous trip to Austin, Texas to visit Elyse. It was a pretty ridiculous trip. I didn't feel like renting a car so I mostly hung out with her very cute doy while Elyse worked, and after work and on the weekends we would go adventuring. In fact, at the time Elyse mostly used her motorcycle to around, but that wasn't really going to work for two ladies going out for a night on the town or an afternoon shopping, obvi. In those cases we would pray that her beat up near death little car would survive long enough to get us to and from where we were going. And we went many places.

We went to Daily Juice, where I got a smoothie with durian...and I liked it! This is not a picture of my durian smoothie, instead it's a Ramblin Rose, which was also totally amazing.

Bet you didn't know I have a septum ring.

Texas is ridiculously hot. Like so hot, I think I'm too white to live there because I more or less burst into flames every time I went outside. I am not exaggerating. So ee went to Barton Springs. It was cold! But nice!

We looked pretty! Hm I kind of like my hair dark here...

We went to some bridge where you're suppose to see a bazillion bats. We waited hours. HOURS. There were no bats. Just a lot of people also looking for bats.  Oh wells.

Not a picture of bats.

We went to the greenbelt and went swimming...kind of. More like people sitting in 2 feet of water while drinking beer. Apparently this is the same thing.

We made friends with some random people we met at Chuy's & went to the Greenbeltwith them. Go us! (note: they are not actually pictured.)

We went hiking in our bikinis. In fact, we did just about everything in our bikinis. Apparently it's totally cool to not wear actual clothes while in Austin. I'm not exaggerating, I'm pretty sure I saw a half naked man walking around town like it weren't no thang. And we took weird self portraits.

I know, I have a huge mouth.

For some reason I got the itch to get a tattoo, and such itches cannot be ignored! It did not feel good, but I have to say I quite like it. Elyse found the found the font for me which I love. The best part? The font was part of an extremely expensive package from a typography firm and probably cost somewhere around $400 to purchase (or something like that, Elyse got this for me, I did not pay $400 for a font), and the tattoo itself only cost $80. So yeah, I have an $80 tattoo of a $400 font. Bananas.

I got a tattoo! It did not feel pleasant!
This photo documentary of my trip to Austin is not inclusive. And by that I mean it does not include the 2 tons of food I consumed while I was down there. Or the terrifying lap dance from a stranger that I took for the team so that Elyse could go flirt with a dude in another room. In Conclusion: I am not a big fan of Texas (too much heat, not enough ocean), but I am a big fan of their food. And their shopping, because I sure loved buying shit there...and bought a whole lot of it.
