She's Having a Baby!

No. It's not me.

this is meghan and her husband steve. i love this photo.

It's my good friend Meghan, whose baby shower I attended this past weekend. This was my first baby shower, although I anticipate a slew of them coming up in the next few years.

baby isla should arrive in june.
It was a "library" themed party so we all brought a book to contribute towards Isla's collection. Meghan's mother thought owls (being wise and such) would be complementary to the book theme, so they were all over the party.

yes, they made all the decorations, including the flowers and favors, and painted the owls, too
i managed to make my jar of pastel hershey kisses last a whole 4 days.
i'm kind of in love with these flowers. i want paper flowers all over my apartment now.
such pretty colors!
meghan's mother made a bunting of all the girl's favorite books as kids

This baby shower led to two realizations on my part: 1). It is unlikely that any baby shower will compare, and 2). That I need to hire Meghan's sister Danielle as my wedding planner. For the most part, the whole shower was planned and decorated by Danielle and her mother. And it was freaking adorable.

vegan carrot cake

vegan chocolate mousse with raspberries

vegan cucumber-hummus sandwiches

delicious berry lemonade

Not to mention they had the best food I've ever had at any party, and it was almost all vegetarian and vegan - which is pretty awesome, since I usually end up starving at most parties. My favorite was the sandwiches with vegan dill mayonnaise and the vegan chocolate mousse with raspberries. My next to cooking experiments are definitely going to be those recipes, because I'm pretty sure I could live off of both of those foods.

I love the fabric curtain Meghan made from random fabric strips laying around the house - I think it will look super cute above the crib and would make a great wall hanging or curtain in any home...so what I'm really saying is, I want to make one.

Best of luck to Meghan and Steve!

I took pictures of the shower but Danielle's were so much better (she's an amatuar photographer) that I stole hers - all of them can be found here. You can see more of Danielle's craftiness and life at her blog, Take Heart.
